George Orwell’s Animal Farm illustrates the rise and fall of the animals’ revolution to symbolize how power corrupts—showing that even the most idealistic movements can become oppressive when those in power betray their original principles. To portray this, I incorporated elements from the book that reflect the corruption of power, such as the farm, Napoleon the pig, and key quotes. The contradictory statements—“All animals are equal” and “Some animals are more equal than others”—emphasize the failure of an equal and fair society. By giving the animals human-like qualities, I sought to show how true fairness is difficult to achieve, and how a government lacking genuine commitment to improving society is bound to become corrupt.
